consonants are generally silent in French BUT notice that I pronounce the last letters here :
cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix

okay? so it is an exception.

 

⚠️ silent endings when 6 and 8 follow a consonant

and that’s not all. I’ll also ask you to pay special attention to 6 and 8 :

six personnes ➔ silent X 
huit personnes ➔ silent T
